Get busy refurbishing your holiday home

Winter is traditionally a slower time for the UK holiday market, with visitors from overseas sometimes finding our winter weather a little less welcoming. If you are a holiday home owner working with the likes of Rent My Cottage and have fewer bookings at this time of year, it could be the perfect time to do a few updates in your property to help boost your bookings for the coming year.

On a basic level, freshening up your decor and servicing things like your central heating are easy and important tasks that are good to deal with during this quieter period, but if you have some money set aside to improve your home further, now’s the time to get work out of the way before peak season arrives. Improvements that will add real value to your property as holiday accommodation include loft or basement conversions and fitting luxurious extras in the bathroom, such as hot tubs or wet room facilities. Updating the entertainment amenities in your property will also improve your offering and hopefully your rent yield. Installing a flatscreen TV, satellite facilities and providing a collection of recent DVDs, will go towards creating a more elite feeling in the property and hopefully help persuade future guests to return time after time.
